Harris and Lewis March 2026

Updated: Apr 5

My visit to Harris and Lewis this year was far from disappointing. The Scottish Isles' weather showcased its unpredictability with rain, fierce winds, hail, bright sunshine, and lingering grey skies. Each day brought new weather patterns, adding excitement to our adventures.

Despite harsh conditions, we enjoyed a few glorious sunrises and sunsets that transformed the landscape with breathtaking colors. The early morning light cast a magical glow over Luskentyre, while evening skies erupted in shades of orange, pink, and purple over Seilebost.

These dynamic skies highlighted nature's beauty and power, leaving us with lasting memories of this remarkable destination.

As ever, the endouring colours prevailed and this wonderful Isle oprovided us with some stunning views and some surprises whilst we explored around the Isle when the weather was a littlke too much for the cameras to come out.

As I strolled along the deserted Luskentyre, I was captivated by the various patterns created in the sand as the tide receded, leaving behind small streams of water that exposed the black sand beneath. I found myself engaged in a new pastime, searching for the most intriguing patterns and observing the crashing waves, wondering if I could capture a breaker at the perfect moment.

Our house for the week was conveniently situated near Seilebost, known for its stunning landscapes and proximity to some of the most breathtaking beaches in the region. As a result of this prime location, we spent a great deal of time exploring the beautiful beaches of Luskentyre and Seilebost, both of which are renowned for their pristine sands and crystal-clear waters. The vast expanses of soft, white sand stretched out before us, inviting us to take leisurely strolls along the shoreline, where the sounds of the waves lapping against the beach created a soothing soundtrack to our adventures.

In addition to our time on the beaches, we also ventured up into the dunes that bordered these picturesque coastal areas. The dunes offer a unique landscape, with their undulating hills covered in lush grasses and wildflowers, providing a perfect backdrop for the mostly deserted. most mornings and evenings, we set out to discover the hidden gems nestled within the dunes. These excursions were not only exhilarating but also invigorating for both the body and the mind. The fresh sea air filled our lungs as we climbed the sandy slopes, and the breathtaking views from the tops of the dunes rewarded our efforts with panoramic vistas of the coastline and the distant horizon.

The evening we did spend in the dunes was particularly magical, as the fading light transformed the scenery into a dreamlike setting. We paused to take in the moment, reflecting on the tranquility. In these moments, we felt a profound sense of peace and gratitude for the opportunity to immerse ourselves in such a breathtaking environment.

Overall, our time near Seilebost was not just a vacation; it was a rejuvenating escape that allowed us to reconnect with nature, engage in physical activity, and cultivate a sense of mindfulness. The combination of beach exploration and dune adventures provided a perfect balance, enriching our experience and leaving us with lasting memories of this beautiful corner of the world ...... and sme pretty amazing photos.

I will be running a workshop here in October this year and March next year. Dates to be confirmed but please get in touch if you are interested.
